Why a Private Villa Beats Hotel Rooms for Big Families

When three generations travel together, a hotel splits everyone across corridors and floors. A private villa keeps the family under one roof — one living room for the grandparents' stories, one lawn for the kids, one pool that nobody else uses. Here is what to check before you book.

1. Bedrooms, Washrooms and Real Capacity

  • Count washrooms, not just bedrooms. One attached washroom per bedroom avoids the morning queue. Every villa at Royal Garden Villas has an en-suite washroom for each AC bedroom.
  • Check base vs maximum guests. Prices usually cover a base number of guests, with a fee for each extra person. Our 3BHK includes 6 guests (up to 8), the 4BHK 8 (up to 10) and the 5BHK 10 (up to 15); extra guests are Rs.1,000 per person per night.
  • Very large family? For 15–22 people, combo villas such as the 8BHK join two villas in one gated compound; for 24–35 people the 12BHK Celebration Villa joins all three.

  • 2. Pool Safety for Kids and Seniors

  • Look for a baby pool or shallow zone. The 3BHK and 5BHK have baby pools, and the 4BHK pool has a shallow zone.
  • Private means private. A pool exclusive to your family is easier to supervise than a shared resort pool.
  • Ask about steps and railings if elders will use the pool or the lawn.

  • 3. Food: Who Cooks, What's Allowed

Big families eat a lot — and often want home-style food. Before booking, ask:

  • Is outside food allowed? At Royal Garden Villas you can order from Swiggy, Zomato or local restaurants, or hire any caterer.
  • Can you bring a cook? Book the optional Dedicated Cooking Space (per day) and bring your own cook or maharaj.
  • Is there serving help? Maid service (1 PM – 9 PM) is Rs.2,000 per day; BBQ service is Rs.3,000 per meal.

  • 4. Security and Housekeeping

  • Gated compound with 24/7 security — so kids can play on the lawn safely.
  • Housekeeping hours — ours are 10 AM to 6 PM.
  • Clear house rules — outdoor music till 10 PM, pets not allowed, government ID for every guest.

  • 5. Location and Travel Time

Pick a villa that is easy to reach for every branch of the family. Royal Garden Villas is on Tata Dam Road, Lonavala — about 2 hours from Mumbai, 90 minutes from Pune and about 5 km from Lonavala railway station and market.

    6. Timings, Payments and Cancellation

  • Check-in 1:00 PM, check-out 10:00 AM — confirm early check-in or late check-out in advance.
  • Online payment and a written confirmation protect you; avoid paying cash to unknown agents.
  • Read the cancellation policy before paying.

  • 7. Space to Be Together — and Apart

The best family villas have a big shared space plus quiet corners: a lawn and swing for kids, an indoor games area for evenings, and bedrooms spread out so the grandparents can rest early.
